Şemseddin Sami, Kamus-ı Türki’de ne de güzel izah etmiş. Urduca, Hindistan’daki en yaygın dil, ordu ve bürokraside kullanılan resmi dil imiş. Türkler, Osmanlı İmparatorluğunda olduğu gibi Hind’de de özgün bir dil geliştirmişler.
Kamus-ı Türki benzeri bir Kamus-u Urdu olsa da hazinelerimiz çoğalsa.

Urduca Türk dili midir?
Urduca, kökenini Sanskritçe’den alır ve Farsça, Arapça ve Türkçe gibi dillerden de etkilenmiştir. “Urdu” kelimesi ise Türkçeden gelen “ordu” kelimesinden türemiştir ve “ordugâh” anlamına gelir. Bu kelime, dillerin geliştiği bölgedeki Türk ordularının varlığına atıfta bulunur.
Urdu kelimesi Türkçe’de ve Moğolca’da hanın sarayını, karargâhını, silâhlı kuvvetleri (ordu/orda) veya askerin konakladığı, barındığı yeri (ordugâh, karargâh) ifade etmektedir (bk. ORDA; ORDU).
Hindistan ve Pakistan ilmî çevrelerinde Türkçe kökenli olduğu kabul edilen Urdu kelimesinin Hindistan’da ilk defa Bâbür’ün (1526-1530) Veḳāyiʿinde yer aldığı kaydedilmektedir. Fakat Vekāyiʿde bu özel bir dilin adı olarak değil “ordugâh” anlamında kullanılmıştır.
Cümle yapısı bakımından büyük ölçüde Farsça’nın etkisinde kalan, Hintçe, Arapça, Türkçe, Farsça ve yerli dillerden ödünç kelime alan Urdu dili bu dillerdeki seslerin hepsini karşılayacak zenginliktedir.
