Then technology can exert a positive influence and help humanity move swiftly and effectively toward a world of equality, safety and sustainability. This is a great balance to keep in mind as we work towards new ones focused on the importance of artificial intelligence as a tool for good governments. In celebration of today’s event, we have invited our dear friend, Mr. Levent Agaoglu, chairman of BooksonTurkey to share with us his experience of fostering peace from the people’s perspective. And hello and welcome for joining us, Mr. Levent Agaoglu, chairman of BooksonTurkey. Thank you for joining us today.
Thank you for your invitation, Miss Judy and it’s great. Of course, and we’re excited to have this conversation today as we’re celebrating the International Day of Democracy and FOWPAL International Day of Love and Peace.
So first, can you share with us some positive stories that your organization or yourself has been in charge of or has encountered?
Yes. It’s really it’s a perfect question. I thought about your question now. My my experience for the love, peace and democracy, personal experience with the organizations. By now, I have visited 33 countries, countries worldwide. So this showed myself it’s a big experience to meet with all kinds of people from four continents. Brazil in South America and Ethiopia in Africa and China, many countries in Asia, say China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong in Asia and several countries again in Europe. So what I tested is human experience. So, as a result of this experience, I developed love for the humankind, for humanity and no difference for the color. So, this is always I developed a very positive understanding with the people all over the world. This is my personal experience
Brazil in South America and Ethiopia in Africa and China, many countries in Asia say China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong in Asia and several countries again in Europe. So what I tested is human experience. So as a result of this experience, I developed love for the human kind, for humanity and no difference for the color. So this is always I developed a very positive understanding with the people all over the world. This is my personal experience. That is really great and sometimes you can’t help it, right? It just comes very naturally to have that love and compassion come out of you. We can see it from your smile. emerges. Thank you. Thank you, Judy.
I’m actually going to pause a little bit. Let’s try turning up the volume on your computer and off the volume down on your phone. Okay, I increased computer. And so, what do you think is the importance of democracy?
Oh, so important. It is the importance is with the wording, demos means the people. So the the base is the views of the every different individual, which makes the demos, the people. So if the the management, political management doesn’t value the views of the other people, so it’s not good. So this shows us democracy brings us the different perspectives. So even an individual, me as a Levent, I have different views. I mean, today I think so, tomorrow I think differently. Even a personal person doesn’t have the fixed view and idea. It differs. So democracy shows us the the value of the different I think so tomorrow I think differently.
Even a personal person doesn’t have the fixed view and idea, it differs. So democracy shows us the value of the different views which could be articulated with freedom. This is very important and this is the base of the human society for the management. When we look at the continents, we see that Europe continent gives more value to democracy. However, the two World War happened in Europe. This is a contradiction as well. This is a great contradiction. To my understanding the Asia continent it’s a big competition, it’s a big challenge for Asia to give more value to democracy. Really really it’s a big challenge. So in this case we will see richness of the views and we will not see humans as robots. So this is with freedom, in democracy is with people and freedom.
Do you know what I do?
I go always I am always within the people. I go to the streets and then stay in the streets and drink Turkish tea and look at the people walking around. It’s a crowd, crowd. However, this gives me a wisdom. The people brings you the wisdom. You look at the people, you see their faces, sometimes happy, sometimes unhappy. So streets and the people are for myself. I am always I am always also as a poet. I write poems. I have poem books. The base is with the streets. The base is with the people because I see the and then I talk with these people as well while I am sitting to drink tea. It’s a casual place.
However, for myself I am always I am always also as a poet. I write poems. I have poem books. The base is with the streets. The base is with the people. Because I see the and then I talk with these people as well. while I am sitting to drink tea. It’s a casual place. However when I talk with the people I see the varieties of the views and the stories as well. Every day I do this in the before noon time. I go and drink drink tea and then I meet with the people individuals. So the base of the democracy Demos is the people and freedom.
That’s great and at the collection of different views and ideas and as you mentioned to me it almost feels like that’s what makes us beautiful, right? We’re all different and we need to learn to respect that. And also the idea that because it’s about the people, we can always improve on something because there’s always going to be different views, different ideas and improvements in human society, I think. and you mentioned we’re not robots. We’re using AI but we got to use our mind and our heart to use AI to the best and not let it overpower our hearts, right?
So I can tell you something about AI. AI is artificial. But it’s it’s the collection of the people’s writings and views. AI is a great assistance. However your natural intelligence. It’s original and it’s natural always. It is number one. AI is a helper, assistant only. So we cannot base our thinking on AI and copying the AI sentences. you see it’s a combination. So really it’s a combination. You see I am writing the articles. How do I write them down? I speak to my mobile phone and mobile dictates my my talking. Yeah, this is AI. I’m using the mobile phone AI, but the views, the thinking belong to me. this is very practical. If I try to write it down by computer by the thinking belong to me.
Ah, this is very practical. If I try to write it down by computer, by computer, I will say oh was this A or E? Or I should use comma. So I lose the time. I lose the flow of mind flow. Mind flow. I cannot. However with writing through talking. It’s mind flow. Much more rich. So this is my story on AI, my personal experience. Your personal experience is great. That really helps us in little ways so our lives can go a lot more smoother, faster, efficient. Yeah, yeah, if it should always. And we’re wondering if going you mentioned it a little bit about, you know, democracy, about being the people and I could almost envision a little bit from what you’re saying, but what do you think? How can individuals and governments work together to foster peace in a way that strengthens democratic values and inclusivity? , it’s you see through through the more inputs from the society upon the management.
So inclusion of the different views, but this needs maturity with the management. Mature management. So in this case they don’t block the views. The views freely are articulated and we see the countries in the world they are different in this understanding. Some countries allowed for the different views, but some countries doesn’t allow. So there should be mechanisms for the society to articulate the views. This is not only with the national parliament or municipal parliament. It’s it should be based on the roots of the society. The villages, villagers, always the different views should be articulated through the mechanisms and the base is with the freedom always. Indeed and the value of freedom and thought and all that. I think has to do with our internal the value of freedom and thought and all that.
I think it has to do with our internal desire and I think kindness to want to respect ourselves and each other. and going into that aspect a little bit more, how do you think the concept of our conscience serves as a fundamental guide in fostering love and peace globally? How can it influence our personal and collective actions?
Just a second, just a second. Okay. And the conscience is the inner column of human being. So it is we can it is the heart of the man. There is a special word mankind. There is a special word in Turkish language. gönül. Gönül means you see the gön is the the skin. You see the skin is gön. Gönül is inside the skin. It is called as heart in Western languages. So it’s a great word in Turkish language. And there is not any identical word in world languages. This is consciousness in Turkish language. consciousness is too important. say okay, it is called as religion. However, the religions, you see there are religions. Too many religions. However, the consciousness is single. Single. It’s a human feeling and value. So the the religions may be different for the for the different nationalities and the people. But consciousness is always single. It doesn’t it shouldn’t be changed according to religion. so it is for the humankind, it’s the moral compass.
So this compass shows us the way and the directions. North east is always single. It doesn’t it shouldn’t be changed according to religion. so it is for the humankind it’s the moral compass. So this compass shows us the way and the directions, north east all kinds of directions for the part of the humankind. So it’s very universal universal value. So the for the 21st century the effect of the consciousness should be much more bigger than before. Why? Because now the world is has an agenda for the say clearly third third World War is on the agenda. So how to eliminate this understanding from the world is universal consciousness. This is my understanding.
Yeah, and it’s mentioned in the universal declaration of human rights about our conscience being upset and not put into place and so I think that you worded it very nicely. It is on the agenda, but our conscience needs to play a bigger role in overcoming that. And I had my last question, but I feel like you answered it already about how conscience plays a transform transforming societal mindset. what you just talked about was perfect and just if you have any last message on how we can work together towards a world of love and peace.
Yeah, it is it is with the CFV universal understanding of humanity. So you see there are more than 200 countries in the world. So there are the borders. But this we need the world to be borderless. No border. When we look so look at Google Earth the round world. We don’t see any borders on the natural wheel. No borders. So this earth should be a should not be a dream. It should be a real world for the humanity. This is my message and understanding and then my message and understanding and then even the continents. Okay, there are different geographies the continents. However, these continents also should unite all together for the humanity and mankind.
Thank you for sharing. I think that what I took from what you said at the end to me is beautiful. we often talk about borderless society or the world and we talk about it like a dream. But you mentioned something with the Google Map reference and I perspective that it is our real world. And I think that’s how we can see it, how we can word it and that is how we will act towards it. Not as if it’s a dream, but it is how our world is and it’s beautiful. So, thank you once again Mr. Levan for joining us on this day of celebration.
Thank you, Julie as well. and then I appreciate the efforts of FOWPAL in favor of the humanity and uniting humanity under a single entity. So really it’s a great effort and I hope the coming years will be united humankind all over the world against the wars and then peace will prevail all over the world. Indeed, thank you for ending on that note and we wish peace upon everyone as well. Thank you once again for joining us. Thank you. Thank you from Istanbul from Turkey. Thank you. Good day. Good day.
