It’s been very hard to find any reasonable reading material for learning Turkish. This book is my best find so far! I’ve been learning Turkish for about 3-4 hours per week (plus homework) for the past 6 months and this book is perfect for my level as it’s both reasonably challenging and yet not overwhelmingly difficult. I hope to be able to find more materials like that once I’m through with this book.

I'm so glad I could get my hands on this. This is the kind of resource that's often lacking when learning a new language: having the opportunity to read it in context, at a level of understanding accessible to the beginner, while being challenged just enough to learn new words and grammatical concepts through reading alone. There's also a convenient system of vocabulary lists following the texts, so as not to spend time poring through a dictionary with the ever-so-present risk of getting lost in it, and questions to test your understanding of the story.
Overall a very very good book. Kudos to the authors for the great work!

Yes - these stories fill in an important gap in learning Turkish!

I have been using a variety of free websites to learn Turkish for about six months. One complaint/problem that I have had is finding short reading materials that matched my vocabulary level. I personally learn better when words and grammar are part of a compelling story (rather than just checking progress through single sentences exercises).

If you are like me, then Turkish Short Stories is an extremely helpful "tool" in your quest to learn Turkish. Openly, for my current level of Turkish, reading the stories is difficult - but the payoff is great. I can understand much of what is going on and then, through vocabulary work (complements of the book itself), the nuances of the story are revealed (which makes the stories even more interesting). The only reason for 4-stars versus 5-starts is that the book vocabulary assumes knowledge of many words that I don't know yet. So, I have to leave the book to find the meaning. I highly recommend this book!

A good book. The stories are quite short (a couple of pages) and engaging. I found that there wasn't a lot of vocab I didn't know, and sometimes the words I didn't know (more advanced words) were not the words listed in the vocabulary section, which is my only complaint. I got this book for free in a digital version through Reddit and have been enjoying it. Would purchase if I didn't already own it.

The stories are written in a simple way and are easy to understand, and after each one there is a vocab list and asome comprehension questions. Please bear in mind you should complement it with some textbook, as there are no grammar explanations included.

I strongly recommend Turkish Stories for Beginners though this is a book that best suits readers with a fairly good grounding of Turkish. I am personally comfortable with this level of reading. Length of those short stories is ideal, words in bold characters are systematically translated into English, in addition to a bilingual summary for each short story, a nice plus, with some comprehension questions at the end. Title should read 'Short Stories for Intermediate Learners'.

However, it is definitely not a book for beginners.
Solid knowledge of Turkish (B1 level, at least) is required in order for the reading experience to be thoroughly enjoyable.
Definitely recommend this product for people who have a good base and who want to improve their Turkish.
